Fabric Requirements and Cutting Instructions

Read all instructions before beginning and use 1/4”-wide seam allowances throughout. Read Cutting Strips and Pieces prior to cutting fabric.

Getting Started

Spice up those winter days with a fresh apple pie from your oven. Showcase it on this tablecloth featuring everyday spices and homemade treats. Refer to Accurate Seam Allowance.Whenever possible use Assembly Line Method. Press seams in direction of arrows.

Making the Four-Patch Blocks

1. Sew one 3 1/4” x 42” Fabric A strip and one 3 1/4” x 42” Fabric B strip together lengthwise as shown. Repeat for one 3 1/4” x 21” Fabric A and B strips. Press. Cut into eighteen 3 1/4” segments.
   
   
   
2. Sew two units from step 1 together as shown. Press. Make nine. Four-Patch Blocks measure 6” square.
   
   

Making Half-Square Four-Patch Blocks

1. Draw a diagonal line on wrong side of one 5 3/4” Fabric A square. Place marked square and one 5 3/4” Fabric C square right sides together. Sew scant 1/4” away from drawn line on both sides to make half-square triangles as shown. Make four. Cut on drawn line and press. Square to 5 1/4”. This will make eight half-square triangle units.
   
   
   
   
2. Sew one 5 1/4” Fabric A square and one unit from step 1 together as shown. Press. Make eight.
   
   
   
3. Sew two units from step 2 together as shown. Press. Make 4. Half-Square Four-Patch Block measures 10”.
   
   

Assembling the Quilt

1. Referring to photo and layout, arrange and sew together three Four-Patch Blocks and two 6” x 10” Fabric D pieces. Press. Make three.
   
   
   
2. Referring to photo and layout, arrange and sew together three Half-Square Four-Patch Blocks and three 6” x 10” Fabric D pieces. Press. Make two.
   
   
   
3. Referring to photo and layout, arrange and sew together rows from steps 1 and 2. Press.

Adding the Border

1. Refer to Adding the Borders and sew one 1 1/4” x 36” Outside Border strip to top and bottom of quilt.
   
   
   
   
2. Referring to photo and layout, sew one 1 1/4” x 37 1/2” Outside Border strip to sides of quilt.

Layering and Finishing

1. Refer to Layering the Quilt to arrange and baste backing, batting and top together. Hand or machine quilt as desired.
2. Refer to Binding the Quilt and use 2 3/4”-wide binding strips to bind quilt to finish.
