Apple Basket Table Runner
Finished Size: 16” x 39 ½”
Celebrate the apple harvest with this easy table runner. A repeating
stripe fabric forms a mitered border around a colorful center for a
simple, yet eye-catching, centerpiece for the table.
Materials List and Cutting Instructions
- Fabric A-center- 5 ½” x 29 1/2”
- Fabric B-border- 1 yard (You will need three full repeats of your motif, each measuring 42”.) Note : Our motif stripe ran selvage to selvage. If your repeating stripe is parallel to selvage, adjust yardage accordingly.
- Binding-1/3 yard (Three 2 ¾” x 42” strips)
- Backing-1/2 yard
- Batting-18” x 42”
Getting Started
This table runner is quick and easy, but interesting enough to catch your attention and to accent your apple bouquet. Read all instructions before beginning and use ¼”-wide seam allowances throughout. Read Cutting Strips and Pieces prior to cutting fabric. Press seams in direction of arrows.
Assembly
With only two fabrics in this runner, mitered borders are important for
the design and to use the repeating stripe effectively. If you've never
made a mitered border, just follow our simple steps to achieve great
results.
Refer to Mitered Borders to add 5 ½”-wide Fabric B borders to center 5 ½” x 29 1/2” Fabric A piece. Cut one 5 ½” Fabric B strip in half to use on ends of table runner. Press.
Layering and Finishing
- Arrange and baste backing, batting, and top together, referring to Layering the Quilt. Hand or machine runner as desired.
- Press three 2 ¾” x 42”-wide binding strips in half lengthwise. Refer to Binding the Quilt and bind runner to finish.
