Block Eleven

"Fall Flight"

The fabric requirements for the entire quilt are available here.

Fabric Requirements:

• Fabric A—from 3 1/2”-wide strip cut six 3 1/2” squares.
• Fabric B—from 2”-wide strip, cut six 2” squares. No more is needed of Fabric B.
• Fabric D—from 5 1/2”-wide strip cut one 3 1/2” square and three 3 1/2” x 2” pieces. From 2”-wide strip cut seven 2” squares.
• Fabric E—from 3 1/2”-wide strip, cut one 3 1/2” square.
• Fabric F—from 3 1/2”-wide strip, cut one 3 1/2” square.
• Fabric G—from 5 1/2”-wide strip, cut three 3 1/2” x 2” pieces. From 2”-wide strip cut five 2” squares.

Making the Block

1. •  Refer to Quick Corner Triangles . Making quick corner triangles, sew one 2” Fabric D square to one 2” Fabric B square as shown. Press. Make four.
   
   
   

2. Sew one unit from step 1 to one 2” Fabric G square as shown. Press. Make three.
   
   

3. Sew remaining unit from step 1 to one 2” Fabric D square as shown. Press.
   
   

4. Making quick corner triangles, sew one 2” Fabric G square to one 2” Fabric B square as shown. Press. Make two.
   
   

5. Sew one unit from step 4 to one 2” Fabric D square as shown. Press. Make two.
   

6. Sew one unit from step 2 to one 3 1/2” x 2” Fabric G piece as shown. Press. Make two. Sew remaining unit from step 2 to one 3 1/2” x 2” Fabric D piece as shown. Press.

   
   

7. Sew one unit from step 5 to one 3 1/2” x 2” Fabric D piece as shown. Press. Make two.
   
   

8. Sew unit from step 3 to one 3 1/2” x 2” Fabric G piece as shown. Press.
   
   

9.   Making quick corner triangles sew each unit from steps 6, 7, and 8 to one 3 1/2” Fabric A square as shown flipping back units prior to sewing to make sure units are placed correctly. Make six in assorted combinations as shown (in step 10). Press.
   
   

10. Referring to diagram arrange and sew units from step 9, 3 1/2” Fabric E square, 3 1/2” Fabric D square, and 3 1/2” Fabric F square as shown to make three rows. Press. Sew rows together to make Block Eleven. Block Eleven measures 9 1/2” square.
