Block Five “Good Health”
Fabric Requirements:
Fabric C —From 4 1/2"-wide strip, cut one 4 1/2" square
Fabric F —From 3 1/2"-wide strip, cut four 3 1/2" squares
Fabric G —From 4 3/4"-wide strip, cut two 4 1/2" squares
Fabric H —One 3 1/2" square
Fabric I —From 4 1/2"-wide strip, cut one 4 1/2" square
Fabric J —Four 3 1/2" squares
Making the Good Health Block
1. Make a half-square triangle by drawing a diagonal line on wrong side of one 4 1/2" Fabric G square. Place marked square and one 4 1/2" Fabric I square right sides together. Sew a scant 1/4" away from drawn line on both sides as shown. Cut on drawn line and press. This will make two G/I half-square triangle units.

2. Make a half-square triangle by drawing a diagonal line on wrong side of one 4 1/2" Fabric G square. Place marked square and one 4 1/2" Fabric C square right sides together. Sew a scant 1/4" away from drawn line on both sides as shown. Cut on drawn line and press. This will make two G/C half-square triangle units.

3. Make a quarter-square triangle unit by drawing a diagonal line on wrong side of one G/I unit from step 1 in opposite direction from seam as shown. Place marked unit right sides together and matching seams with one G/C unit from step 2; check to see that Fabric G triangle is on top of Fabric C triangle. Sew a scant 1/4" away from drawn line on both sides as shown. Cut on drawn line and press twisting seams in one direction. Square unit to 3 1/2" centering intersection of seams. Make two. This will make four quarter-square triangles.

4. Sew one unit from step 3 between two 3 1/2" Fabric F squares as shown. Press. Make two.

5. Sew 3 1/2" Fabric H square between two units from step 3 as shown. Press.

6. Sew unit from step 5 between two units from step 4 as shown. Press.

7. Refer to Quick Corner Triangles. Making quick corner triangles sew four 3 1/2" Fabric J squares to block from step 6 as shown. Press. Good Health Block measures 9 1/2" square.

Block Six "Faith"
Fabric Requirements:
Fabric B —From 2 3/4"-wide strip, cut two 2" squares
Fabric C —From 4 1/2"-wide strip, cut two 4 1/2" squares
Fabric D —From 5 1/2"-wide strip, cut four 3 1/2" squares
Fabric E —From 2 1/4"-wide strip, cut two 2" squares
Fabric G —From 4 3/4"-wide strip, cut two 4 1/2" squares
Making the Faith Block
1. Make a half-square triangle by drawing a diagonal line on wrong side of one 4 1/2" Fabric G square. Place marked square and one 4 1/2" Fabric C square right sides together. Sew a scant 1/4" away from drawn line on both sides as shown. Make two. Cut on drawn line and press. This will make four G/C half-square triangles.

2. Make a quarter-square triangle unit by drawing a diagonal line on wrong side of one G/C unit from step 1 in opposite direction from seam as shown. Place marked unit right sides together and matching seams with another G/C unit, placing Fabric G triangle on top of Fabric C triangle. Sew a scant 1/4" away from drawn line on both sides as shown. Cut on drawn line and press twisting seams in one direction. Square unit to 3 1/2" centering intersection of seams. Make two. This will make four quarter-square triangles.

Sew one unit from step 2 between two 3 1/2" Fabric D squares as shown. Press. Make two.

Sew together one 2" Fabric E square and one 2" Fabric B square. Press. Make two. Sew these two units together as shown. Press, twisting seams.

Sew unit from step 4 between two units from step 2 as shown. Press.

Sew unit from step 5 between two units from step 3 as shown. Press. Faith Block measures 9 1/2" square.
