Getting Started

Yardage requirements, cutting instructions, general notes and layout are found here. Seam allowances are 1/4". Refer to Accurate Seam Allowance. Whenever possible, use the Assembly Line Method. Press seams in direction of arrows.

Pieces Needed for Block Seven

Making the Block

  1. Referring to Quick Corner Triangles, sew two 3 1/2" Fabric J squares to one 6 1/2" x 3 1/2" Fabric G piece as shown. Press.
  1. Make quick corner triangle units by sewing two 3 1/2" Fabric J squares to each of the following pieces as shown:

One 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" Fabric E piece
One 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" Fabric C piece
One 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" Fabric H piece
Make three, one of each combination. Press.

  1. Making a quick corner triangle unit, sew one 3 1/2" Fabric H square to one 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" Fabric J piece as shown. Press.
  1. Make quick corner triangle units by sewing each of the following squares to 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" Fabric J pieces as shown:

One 3 1/2" Fabric F square
One 3 1/2" Fabric D square
One 3 1/2" Fabric I square
Make three, one of each combination. Press.

  1. Sew unit from step 1 to unit from step 3 as shown. Press. Sew Unit 1 from step 2 to Unit 4 from step 4 as shown. Press. Sew these two units together as shown. Press.
  1. Sew Unit 2 from step 2 to Unit 5 from step 4 as shown. Press. Sew green Unit 3 from step 2 to Unit 6 from step 4 as shown. Press. Sew these units together as shown. Press.
  1. Sew together units from step 5 and step 6 as shown. Press. Block Seven measures 12 1/2" square.
