Making the Lanterns

Floral wire is malleable and easy to work with to create hangers for screw lid jars.

Small Jar: Cut three 14” pieces of floral wire. Using long nose pliers and referring to photo, form a loop at one end of each wire. Thread another piece of floral wire through the loops, wrap around the jar evenly placing the loops, and use pliers to tightly secure the wire as shown. Extend loose wires over the jar and secure by wrapping with a small piece of wire. Use pliers to create curlicues with extra wire. String faceted pink and green beads on 26 gauge wire. Wrap around jar top and secure by twisting with pliers. String purple beads on 26 gauge wire and wrap around jar top, securing by twisting with pliers. Place candle in jar and sprinkle extra beads in bottom of jar.

Large Jar: Cut three 15” pieces of floral wire. Use long nose pliers to make a large curlicue in one end of each wire. Wrap a piece of floral wire around jar securing curlicue wires to jar at even spacing. Use pliers to tightly secure the wire. Extend curlicue wires over jar, forming a loop at the top. Use a small piece of wire to wrap wires below loop. Thread yellow and green beads onto 26 gauge wire and wrap securely around top of jar. If dangling beads are desired, thread beads onto short wires and secure to first bead string, spacing evenly around jar. To accent the top, thread small beads on wire and wrap just below the loop, leaving ends hanging down. Place candle in jar and sprinkle extra beads or glass gems in the bottom of jar.
