Quick Gifts

Fun with Fleece
Christmas seems to come quicker each year and by early November I'm always on a fast track to prepare handmade gifts for the important people in my life. I love to work with fleece for quick gifts as it is cozy, colorful, and sew-easy. My new fleece designs for Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores are perfect for fun-loving holiday gifts. Here are two of my favorite ways to create comfy and cute fleece holiday gifts.

Jingle Bell Pillow
Perfect for a quick gift or to make a seasonal change on your sofa or bed, this easy pillow technique uses the ravel-free feature of fleece to its best advantage.
Supply List (for each pillow)
- 24" x 36" Piece of Fleece (if desired, fussy cut fleece to feature a character or element)
- 16" Square Pillow Form
- Twelve Large Jingle Bells
- Fold 36" length of fleece to 16" as shown, overlapping in the back to create a pillow insert pocket.
- Measure 4" from each unfolded edge and sew a seam.
- Using a scissors, cut fringe approximately 3/4" wide as shown, stopping about 1/4" from seam line. Cut both top and bottom pieces at once so fringe pieces match for tying.
- Thread a jingle bell on end fringe and using the facing fringe piece, tie a knot. Repeat, spacing bells evenly along fringe and tying plain knots in between. Repeat for the other side, spacing bells at approximately the same place as first side and tying plain knots in between.
- Insert pillow form and enjoy your fun fleece pillow!
Easy Fleece Throw
Everyone on your holiday gift list will love this cuddly throw!
Supply List
1 1/6 Yards each of Two Coordinating Fleece Designs
(Fleece should be approximately 60" wide)
- Remove selvage from each piece.
- With right sides together and using 1/2" seam allowance, sew long sides of fleece pieces. Turn right side out.
- Measure and mark a line 5" from end on each short side of fleece throw. Sew on the line on each side.
- Using a scissors, cut fringe approximately 1" wide on short sides, stopping about 1/2" from seam line. Cut both top and bottom pieces at once so fringe pieces match for tying.
- Beginning at one end, tie each set of top and bottom fringe pieces into knots. Repeat for the other side
