Decorate for a Garden Tea Party!
Enjoy a different kind of summer party by inviting your lady friends to a garden tea party. A shady spot in the garden is perfect to gather favorite friends for an afternoon of conversation and laughter. And preparation for the party can be almost as fun as the event itself as you make table runners and napkins and gather vintage finds for a memorable afternoon.
Dress up garden tables with flowery table runners in a beautiful color combination of yellow and blue. They'll contrast beautifully with the garden greens and create a charming new look for garden tables. Fabrics shown are from the Debbie Mumm for Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores collection.

Use the same fabrics to sew reversible napkins in shades of blue. Fold these 18" square napkins unevenly so that the lining peeks through. A tea party deserves napkin rings and these holders are as cute as they are easy. Simply cut a 1"-wide ribbon to a length of 17", fold in half and sew a button about 1" from cut ends through both ends. Wrap around the napkin and thread the button through the ribbon loop. Buttons shown are from Debbie's new button collection for Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores.
Gather all your vintage and modern teapots for an eclectic collection of teapots on each table and feature a different tea in each pot. Fresh flowers in vintage glass vases add the perfect ambiance to the tea party tables.
Carry the blue and yellow theme around the garden by draping a matching quilt over a vintage glider or chaise. The fresh colors and tactile fabrics soften the hard edges of metal furniture adding a cozy feel to a garden space.
If the party carries over to evening, add soft, flickering light with
beaded candle lanterns. Enjoy the warmth of sunshine and friendship and the comfort of tea and good food at your garden party!
