Organization and Inspiration

Create an Inspiring Space for Scrap and Craft!

Plastic bins are useful for organization, but somewhat lacking when it comes to inspiration! Why not mix it up a bit by adding some "vintage" storage finds to your creative space.

Keeping your tools and supplies organized is a huge factor in how often and how easy it is to scrapbook or craft. So look at storage solutions as a creative challenge and use your crafting expertise to make creative containers for all your scrap and craft gear.

This cute little cupboard sat in our storage room for years--covered with dark paint and a poor crackle finish—before we retrieved it to use as a scrapbook center. A little paint and some scrapbook paper cleaned up the cupboard and made it a cute and convenient place to store scrapbook supplies. We were pleased to find that the top shelf was just the right depth for rolls of ribbon when strung on a dowel. The dowel also holds in place packets of ribbon, brads, and rub-ons where they are in sight and easy to grab.

Jars on the lower shelf hold ribbon, beads, felt flowers, bottle caps, and small embellishments. Drawers hold scissors, mounting tape, ribbon rolls, glue sticks, and other supplies.

Find often-used tools easily by storing them in a repurposed kitchen tool carrousel. Decorated with scrapbook papers and stickers, this carrousel will remind you to stay bee-busy and to create beautiful pages while keeping all the necessities in easy reach.

Colored pencils are easy to see and ready-to-go when stored in a cute little bucket. Navy beans in the bucket hold pencils apart and in place. A mini tin garbage can is perfect for holding small bits of ribbon that are too short for easy storage, but too good to waste.

Keep works-in-process and inspiration pieces at eye level with this wall-mounted "clothesline." Inspirations torn from magazines and an unfinished page are held to the wire with clothespins embellished with dimensional stickers.
