Words of Love
Valentine's Day Table for Two

Your Valentine's Day table will speak volumes when you create a romantic setting featuring words, ribbons, hearts, and roses. Keep the menu simple so you have plenty of time to focus on the atmosphere and have some fun creating heart-warming touches for your table.

A simple 12"-wide table runner sets the color scheme and provides a sophisticated background for all our table elements. Napkins are made from a tonal fabric imprinted with words of love.

Napkin rings were created from 1 1/2"-wide sheer ribbon that is banded with gold; simply cut to length and glue in back. Red velvet ribbon (1/4"-wide) is centered on the sheer ribbon and tied into a bow. Charms for the napkin rings are made from 1 1/4" clear metal-rimmed tags. A circular epoxy heart sticker is centered on each tag and the charms are attached to the velvet ribbon with metal jump rings.

We created an ice bucket to cool champagne or sparkling cider from a tin vase found on a clearance table. We covered the sides of the vase with heart-filled scrapbook paper.

Scrapbook products and ribbon were also used to create the menu.

For an intimate and unusual centerpiece, we chose a rectangular glass vase (8" wide and 4 1/2" high) and filled the bottom with clear glass gems. Appropriately named friendship roses (soft yellow with red edges) peek over the edges of the vase and a row of deep red roses fills the center. This low arrangement is perfect for the table as diners can see each other and carry on a conversation while still enjoying the scent and sight of the beautiful flowers. The vase is dressed for Valentine's Day with a double layer of ribbon, tied tightly, and trimmed with an epoxy heart sticker.
