Debbie's Tips for Terrific Table Settings
Create an enticing table for Fall with these timely decorating tips.
Layer Linens
Layers of solid color linens provide the perfect background for a bold dinnerware patterns such as Debbie’s new Market Fresh. Linens repeat the colors in the dinnerware and provide a frame for decorative dinner plates. For this setting, a gold tablecloth is topped with a green runner and purple squares frame each dinner plate. Linens are a casual cotton to match the theme of the dinnerware. To create a more formal look, consider using a mix of fabrics and sheens such as toile, organza, and silk fabrics.
Mix Fresh and Faux
This scrumptious centerpiece mixes a live chrysanthemum plant with silk leaves, faux berries and real pea pods and grape tomatoes. Mixing fresh flowers and vegetables with favorite faux decorating mainstays provides lots of versatility and inspires creativity. In this case, vegetables right out of the garden replace greenery and repeat the vegetable theme of the dinnerware.

Raise your Décor to New Heights
Raise some decorating elements on the table to a higher level to add interest and pizazz. For this setting, Mumm placed folded napkins and pretty silk leaves in the decorative mugs, adding more color and texture to complement the centerpiece. For a dinner party, use scrapbook letters to spell a guest's name on each leaf and use the leaves as place cards.
Extend the Table Top
Don't stop at the tabletop when dressing your dining area. Extend the theme and décor to the entire room for a complete dining experience. Here the buffet is decorated with a simple and fun vegetable vignette. A platter is hung on the wall using a plate hanger from the craft store. The purple accent is repeated in a table runner and chunky eggplant colored candle. To create the pedestal plate, a dinner plate is placed on an overturned bowl and held in place with a little tacky clay. Peppers provide all the decoration that is needed to complete a beautiful vegetable vignette for this appealing dining room.
