Sew Many Projects
Sew Little Time...

These tins are as handsome as they are handy and add a real decorator touch to your sewing shelves. Inspired by the cute fabric I designed for Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores, these tins take only minutes to cover.
Materials Needed
Tin Canisters - any shape or size (we repurposed some Christmas tins)
Fabric of Your Choice
Gloss Decoupage Medium
Acrylic Craft Paint to Match Fabric
Paintbrushes and Scissors
Spray Primer
- Following manufacturer's directions, spray each tin and lid with primer and allow to dry.
- Use acrylic craft paint to paint tin edges that won't be covered.
- Measure tin and cut fabric to fit around tin and on lid.
- Apply decoupage to tin, and fit fabric onto the tin, smoothing and repositioning as needed. Apply decoupage over fabric just applied.
- Allow to dry completely, then apply another coat of decoupage.
Flowerpot Pincushion
To make the pin cushion, paint a small flowerpot with acrylic craft paints in colors desired. Glue tape measure ribbon to rim of flowerpot. Tightly wrap a handful of polyester fiberfill with fabric to form a ball. Secure with a rubber band and insert into flowerpot. If desired, glue fabric to inside of flowerpot.
