Garden Lanterns

Add flickering candlelight and colorful beads to all your summer evenings on the patio with these quick-to-create candle lanterns.
Supply List:
- Two Outdoor Light Covers or Glass Jars
- Two Votive Candles
- Assorted Beads
- Elastic Beading Cord
- Jewelry Wire
- Clear Glue
Making the Lanterns:
We recycled two old outdoor light covers for this project, but glass jars or vases will work as well.
Referring to photo, thread beads onto elastic cord, randomly as shown, or create your own pattern or color combination.
Before tying off, wrap strung beads around jar to check length. When beads go around easily with just a little stretch, tie ends of elastic together, knotting several times. Put a drop of clear glue over knot to keep knot secure.
We chose to make three bead "bracelets" for one jar and two for the other. For the hanging bead embellishment, wrap jewelry wire around bottom bead and twist to stringing wire to secure then add assorted beads as desired. When one side is strung, wrap wire around elastic of bead bracelet where desired, then string second side, wrapping wire around bottom bead to finish.
Bead "bracelets" can be removed to wash jars and can be moved as desired. You can also use your bead bracelets around candles, vases, or other decorative accessories indoors or outside.
