Sparkler Candle Holder
Celebrate the red, white, and blue with an easy and clever candle holder. Perfect for the picnic table or anywhere where you want the glow of candlelight and the sparkle of patriotic-colored gems. This project is so easy, you'll want to use this same technique with other colors, shapes, and designs.
You Will Need:
- Small glass fish bowl or round vase
- Decorative gems in red, clear, blue (available at craft stores or in the floral section of discount stores)
- Candle
- Clear Kitchen and Bath Adhesive Caulk- 5.5 fl. Oz. tube
Making the Candle Holder
We played with two designs—one using random placement and color pattern and the other a simple flower pattern-- for the candle holders shown. Patterns such as stripes, waves, or circles would also be fun and effective patterns for gem placement.
The process is simple. Place a small amount of adhesive caulk on the back of a gem and press onto the glass. Continue gluing gems to the glass with the caulk in the pattern desired. If caulk is thin, gems may slip, so you may need to set the vase on its side (use old towels to hold in place) and do one side at a time. When your pattern is complete, allow caulk to dry thoroughly—this may be several days. If caulk still looks milky, it hasn't dried thoroughly.
Place a candle in vase and enjoy your sparkling centerpiece.
